Dr. Thomas Backeris is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons who also maintains hospital privileges at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa.

Dr. Backeris earned his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Duke University and his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh, where he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society and actively involved in the American Student Dental Association's Missions of Mercy.

Dr. Backeris completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago.

Dr. Backeris went on to earn board certification and Diplomate status with the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the nation's only certifying board for the specialty.

Dr. Thomas Backeris proudly serves the communities of South Tampa, Valrico, Wesley Chapel and Land O’ Lakes with state-of-the-art oral surgery. He is a provider who can treat patients of all ages—complex pediatric and geriatric cases are welcome at Advanced Oral Surgery of Tampa.

In his free time, Dr. Backeris and his wife, Cassie, enjoy traveling, exercising, dining, snow skiing, spending time out on the water, and raising their young greyhound, Delmar.
